The little garden
Last summer was a pretty successful growing year in our home made planter boxes so we decided to do it again this summer. Unlike like last time, I didn't germinate my seeds inside, for two reasons, one: it got really nice and warm much earlier this year, and second: I was in my last couple of months leading up to childbirth therefore other matters took precedence. However, even though it was a slightly later start outside in the boxes, due to gorgeous weather and some great manure added to the soil for extra zing, our boxes are coming up beautifully. I must not fail to mention that our garden is out on the balcony (so this means anyone with outdoor space can have one) which faces south and gets only shade from a cloudy day, so watering "the garden" must happen every day.
Peas, radish, carrots, cucumber, and eggplant were planted. Oddly enough, a huge lettuce has come up also in one of the boxes. We planted lettuce last summer and it was crowded and bitter so we didn't do it this year, but one still came up and it looks great and tastes awesome. We look forward to our peas because they are so sweet and plenty. As well, we've already harvested all of the radish (good looking at that) and will add some more seeds shortly.
It's not the biggest garden, but it's green, keeps the mind busy, fun and good to eat. Here's a picture of some of our tasty radish.
Cheers.
